Chemical and Biological Defense ORISE Fellow, Engility Corporation

Upon the completion of this article, Alena James was a Chemical and Biological Defense ORISE Fellow at The Department of Homeland Security Science & Technology Directorate (DHS S&T). Recently, Alena transitioned to a new role as a science and technology advisor for Engility supporting the Department of Defense. She earned her M.S. in Biodefense from George Mason University, her M.S. and B.S. in Biology from Winthrop University, and her B.A. in Political Science from Winthrop University. Her research interests are in chemical and biological defense research in risk analysis, disease surveillance, border security, and technology development.
