Gautam Kunapuli is a research associate professor in the Department of Computer Science at UTD and is part of the STAtistical Relational LearnING (Starling) Lab. He has over 10 years of experience in machine learning and optimization, specifically human-in-the-loop learning, knowledge-based and advice-taking learning algorithms, scalable learning algorithms for hard machine-learning problems, and applications in medical informatics. Before joining UTD, he was Senior R&D Scientist at UtopiaCompression Corporation, applying state-of-the-art machine learning in diverse domains including medical informatics, social networking, text analytics, behavior mining, and educational data mining. He received his Ph.D. in mathematics from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in 2008 and was a postdoctoral research associate at the University of Wisconsin-Madison from 2008-2013.
