Gordon Ruthel, Ph.D., is technical director of the Imaging Core at the School of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania. Ruthel received his Ph.D. in neuroscience from the University of Virginia. He
then completed postdoctoral training at Harvard Medical School and Purdue University. Ruthel worked as a contract staff scientist at the U.S. Army Medical Research Institute of Infectious Diseases for 11 years before joining the School of Veterinary Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania in 2012.
