Dangerous materials are all around us, meaning hazardous emergencies can occur anywhere at any time. The impact of these events can differ greatly, depending on the hazardous substance or mixture of substances involved – no hazardous material (HAZMAT) or chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear (CBRN) incident is the same. Over the years, HAZMAT/CBRN personal protective equipment (PPE) has evolved to improve responder safety by incorporating operationally relevant ensemble designs and performance specifications. PPE selection is a critical component of an effective risk-based response. Balancing operational response requirements with PPE capabilities and physiological stress is critical for the success of any mission. This webinar will bring awareness to the emergency response and military community on PPE modernization and the utilization of gear designed specifically for emergency response scenarios.
