As these technological advances continue at an unprecedented speed, they will shape a world that can barely be imagined – yet leaders must be cognizant of this change and make decisions today that will affect the nation’s ability to leverage the technology in the future. This podcast discusses technological advancements and modernization as witnessed by the 37th Commandant of the United States Marine Corps, General Robert Neller (U.S. Marine Corps, Retired), during his 45 years of service. General Neller saw many changes to the world landscape and witnessed the corresponding effect on the national security focus of the United States, ranging from the Vietnam War, through the Cold War, Desert Shield/Desert Storm, and most recently, the Global War on Terror. In this podcast, General Neller responds to questions about technological advances, national security, and capability needs, and vulnerabilities that are faced by modern militaries in a dynamic and uncertain world.

Part 2 of this two-part series continues the conversation with General Robert Neller (Retired), 37th Commandant of the United States Marine Corps. During his four and a half decades of service in uniform, General Neller was at the forefront of many changes to the U.S. military’s warfighting capability and capacity due to these technological advances.
